Fremont Fairl and Solstice Parade Event Map
Dear Fremont Neighbors,
Construction on Fremont Ave N, between N 34th St and N 35th St, is continuing as we work to replace a 100-year-old waterline beneath the roadway. Coordinating this upgrade with other street improvements helps reduce long-term disruptions and saves time and resources overall.
The Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade is a major highlight of the year—and we want you to know we’re working hard to keep things clean, safe, and welcoming for the celebration. Crews will tidy up the work zone ahead of the weekend, and we’ll ensure the area around the construction site ready for this special event.
What to Expect:
-
A clean and tidy construction area—crews will clear and secure the work zone ahead of the parade
-
No active construction during the parade—you can enjoy the festivities without construction noise or activity
-
All sidewalks near the parade route will remain open, with clearly marked pedestrian detours if needed
-
Temporary fencing and signage will be in place to safely separate the construction zone from the public
- Route 40 and nearby bus routes will have detours and stop relocations
-
Increased foot and bike traffic—we encourage parade-goers to walk, roll, or take transit to help reduce congestion
Construction work on Fremont Ave N, between N 34th St and N 35th St will resume next week after the Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade weekend. Neighbors can expect demo, trenching, lane restrictions, detours for vehicles, transit, bikes and pedestrians.
Flip Your Trip this Weekend! To help reduce congestion and enjoy a smoother parade day, we encourage you to explore alternate ways to get around Fremont. Walk, bike, roll, or take transit—Route 40, the E Line, or the nearby Burke-Gilman Trail are all great options. Learn more about how to Flip Your Trip and make your travel easier and greener.
Thanks for your patience as we improve the infrastructure beneath our streets. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out at Route40@Seattle.gov.
See you out there this weekend!

Water Main Infrastructure Upgrades
We're working with Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) to replace a 100-year-old waterline under Fremont Ave N between N 34th St and N 35th St and inserting a new valve at Dayton Ave N and N 36th St. Completing the water main upgrades and the street upgrades at the same time will help reduce impacts to the community by coordinating major construction projects. This approach helps minimize travel disruptions, lower construction costs, and shorten the overall construction timeline compared to completing the projects separately.
When complete, the watermain upgrades are expected to:
- Improve capacity to deliver drinking water in your neighborhood
- Improve water system flow and pressure
- Ensure water service reliability and reduce disruptions by creating more backups in the system
What to Expect During a Water Shut off:
Water service impacts will vary based on construction progress and the location of infrastructure upgrades. Specific buildings in Fremont will experience disruptions at different times throughout the project and for varying durations as we complete these essential improvements.
You can learn how best to prepare for water main work by visiting SPU's webpage for tips on preparing for a water outage.
