Nighttime paving on Denny Way coming up next week
 Our construction work on the Denny Way Paving Project continues. We're paving almost 12 blocks of Denny Way to make using Denny Way easier and better for residents and commuters alike. Our work includes asphalt paving, sidewalk upgrades, bus stop changes, new pedestrian ramps, areas of widened sidewalks that shorten crossing distances, new stop bars painted on the street, and new "no turn on red" signs.

What We’re Doing Next Week
Construction will continue next week on Denny Way between 5th Ave N and Westlake Ave N, including overnight grinding work. Our work will reduce the number of lanes on Denny Way and close some parts of the sidewalk. If you are travelling in the area, watch for changing traffic patterns, and follow any signs that direct you around work zones.
We know this will make using Denny more of a challenge. Thank you for your patience while we work. When we’re done working, you will be able to cross the street more easily because of the newly extended curbs and pedestrian ramps. You'll also have an easier time getting to the bus or nearby businesses.

What You Need to Know About Lane Closures on Denny Way:
Between Dexter Ave and Westlake Ave – Eastbound and Westbound Lane Closures

May 9: One westbound and one eastbound lane closed from 9 AM to 3 PM for sidewalk work. Southbound 8th Ave will be closed from 9 AM to 3 PM and northbound 8th Ave will remain closed through mid-May.

May 12 to May 14: One westbound lane closed from 9 AM to 3 PM for sidewalk work.
Between 9th Ave and Terry Ave – Eastbound and Westbound Lane Closures

May 12 to May 16: One eastbound lane will be closed from 9 AM to 3 PM for sidewalk work. Once complete, we will move to the other side of the street and close one westbound lane for sidewalk work.
Between Westlake Ave and Terry Ave – Westbound Lane Closures

May 10 to May 11: One westbound lane will be closed on Saturday at 11 PM and will be reopened on Sunday at 8 AM for drainage work.
- One northbound lane of Westlake Ave between Denny Way and John St will be closed during the same timeframe.

May 17 to May 18: One westbound lane will be closed on Saturday at 11 PM for paving work and will be reopened on Monday at 5 AM.
- One northbound lane of Westlake Ave between Denny Way and John St will be closed during the same timeframe.
We are beginning our nighttime paving work on Denny Way!
The paving work will require our contractors to remove the top two or three inches of existing asphalt from Denny Way using a grinding machine. We will be doing this work at night to reduce traffic impacts during the day. We will work in areas where more people live earlier in the evening on both nights to reduce noise impacts as much as possible. We will be closing lanes on May 14 and May 15 for this work.

May 14: Two eastbound lanes will be closed from 7 PM to 5 AM for grinding work.

May 15: Two westbound lanes will be closed from 7 PM to 5 AM for grinding work.
Route 8 Bus Stop Updates
We're building new ADA-accessible pedestrian ramps at Denny Way and Westlake Ave. This will result in temporary bus stop closures between May 13 and May 23 for Route 8 buses near Westlake Ave. You may catch the bus at either Denny Way & Dexter Ave or at Denny Way & Fairview Ave. Thank you for your patience while we work to upgrade access to transit for people with disabilities.
