Hi all,

Sending another Good News Downtown, a communication to showcase uplifting, interesting, positive stories about activities and people Downtown.

I want to lead this week with some good news around Downtown safety. The Seattle Metropolitan Chamber's Index indicates sentiment is up 13% from last year, where 85% of people say they feel safe visiting Downtown in the daytime. The upward trend is the same for nighttime visitors, up 12% from this time last year. Couple that with the Downtown Seattle Association’s recent dashboard update in March showing Downtown averaged nearly 101,000 daily workers – the highest daily average since March 2020 – and visitors and hotel rooms over 90% of 2019 numbers. Downtown is on the rise and our Downtown Activation Plan is working.

To celebrate National Small Business Week, I encourage you to take a look for yourself as you visit and shop through Downtown. The streets are cleaner with new businesses filling vacant storefronts. As Seattle prepares for our summer boom of activations, events, and tourism, you’ll notice the positive energy coming from new art, new lighting, new retail, and renewed life to popular Downtown attractions like the Waterfront, Pioneer Square, and the C-ID.

If you have news or events to share, or if you want to talk about the work being done to revitalize Downtown, send me an email.

“Without that grant, it would have been more difficult for us to juggle so many things. It really helped us refocus our efforts on retaining clients and completing projects,” said business owner Tuyen Than.
