ARRL Field Day is the most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada. Field Day is amateur radio's open house. Every June, more than 31,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933 and remains the most popular event in ham radio.
Emergency Operation Center Activation
On May 1st, referred to as May Day, the Seattle Office of Emergency Management activated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to bring in city partners in training and response as thousands of community members exercised their First Amendment rights. An EOC is a centralized location utilized for the overall coordination of emergency response activities and for training of city personnel to be able to be properly trained and exercised in the space an emergency response will take place in.
It was a beautiful day filled with inspiration, comradery, and brain exercising as we worked together to be better prepared for the unexpected....to be better prepared for you!
