Upcoming work on Denny Way including lane and sidewalk closures
 Our construction work on the Denny Way Paving Project continues. We're paving almost 12 blocks of Denny Way to make using Denny Way easier and better for residents and commuters alike. Our work includes asphalt paving, sidewalk upgrades, bus stop changes, new pedestrian ramps, areas of widened sidewalks that shorten crossing distances, new stop bars painted on the street, and new "no turn on red" signs.

What We’re Doing Next Week
Construction will continue next week on Denny Way between Dexter Ave and Terry Ave. Our work will reduce the number of lanes on Denny Way and close some parts of the sidewalk. If you are travelling in the area, watch for changing traffic patterns, and follow any signs that direct you around work zones.
We know this will make using Denny more of a challenge. Thank you for your patience while we work. When we’re done working, you will be able to cross the street more easily because of the newly extended curbs and pedestrian ramps. You'll also have an easier time getting to the bus or nearby businesses.
 What You Need to Know About Lane Closures on Denny Way:
Denny Way between 9th Ave and Westlake Ave – Eastbound Lane Closure
May 2
- One eastbound lane will be closed on Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM for sidewalk work.
Denny Way between Westlake Ave and Terry Ave – Westbound Lane Closures
May 2
- One westbound lane will be closed on Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM for saw cutting. One northbound lane of Westlake Ave between Denny Way and John St will be closed during the same timeframe.
May 10 to May 12
- One westbound lane will be closed on Saturday at 11 PM for paving work and will be reopened on Monday at 5 AM. One northbound lane of Westlake Ave between Denny Way and John St will be closed during the same timeframe.
- Seattle Streetcar service will be paused between 11:30 PM Saturday night to 8 AM on Sunday.
Denny Way between Dexter Ave and 9th – Eastbound and Westbound Lane Closures
May 2 to May 5
- One westbound lane will be closed on Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM.
- Two eastbound lanes will be closed on Saturday at 7 AM for sidewalk work. Eastbound traffic will be shifted to one of the westbound lanes. Once complete, we will move to the other side of the street and close westbound lanes for paving work. All lanes on Denny Way will reopen to traffic on Monday at 5 AM for the morning commute.
- Southbound 8th Ave will be closed throughout this work and northbound 8th Ave will remain closed through mid-May.
May 6 to May 10
- One westbound lane will be closed on Monday and Tuesday and on Thursday and Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM for demo and paving work.
- One eastbound lane will be closed on Wednesday at 9 AM for sidewalk work. Lanes will reopen at 3 PM.
