Seattle Office of Labor Standards Commemorates 2025 International Workers’ Day with 7th Annual Door-to-Door Outreach and Education Event
The Office of Labor Standards (OLS) celebrates 2025 International Workers’ Day and its 7th year of bringing outreach and education on Seattle’s labor laws directly to workers and businesses.
A rally at the Chinese Information Service Center (CISC) kicked off Seattle’s tradition of protecting workers’ rights and supporting businesses, followed with door-to-door in person visits in districts 1,2,3 and 7.
Here’s what our trusted Community Outreach and Education Fund (COEF) and Business Outreach and Education Fund (BOEF) partners have to say:
- "Seattle is a city known for its vibrant small business community, where entrepreneurs bring their dreams to life and contribute to the rich tapestry of our local culture and economy. However, navigating laws and regulations as a small business owner can be a daunting task for many of these entrepreneurs. Especially for those that face language, technology, or cultural barriers. Which is why Growing Contigo is a proud partner of the Office of Labor Standards Business Outreach and Education Fund where we will offer culturally and linguistically appropriate outreach, education, and technical support for our local Spanish speaking business community." - Jose Manuel Vasquez; Growing Contigo LLC
- “Empowering immigrants and their families are a core focus of CISC. We are a trusted community-based organization working closely with OLS to educate immigrants about their rights to ensure fair treatment in the workplace.” - ED, Michael Itti.
- “Tabor 100 is proud to support the City of Seattle and the Office of Labor Standards in their May Day outreach efforts to honor International Workers’ Day. As champions for economic empowerment and equity, we are committed to ensuring workers and businesses, especially in underserved communities, are informed about their rights and resources. This campaign reflects our shared mission to build a more just and inclusive economy for all.” - Tabor 100
- "Business Impact NW continues to engage with and educate under-resourced small business owners and entrepreneurs across the Pacific Northwest. Building trust with business owners and partner organizations is essential for making our labor standards outreach efforts impactful. We believe that our outreach efforts on May 1st will further strengthen our relationships with local business owners and solidify our role as a trusted intermediary." - Business Impact NW
- "Ethnic Chamber of Commerce Coalition is proud to support the Office of Labor Standards in this year’s May Day outreach campaign, continuing our shared mission to ensure that all workers and small business owners, especially those in underserved communities, understand their rights and responsibilities under Seattle’s labor laws. Since 2018, our partnership has empowered hundreds of ethnic small businesses through culturally relevant, language-specific education and training. This outreach effort on International Workers’ Day strengthens community trust and helps build a more just and equitable workplace for all. We look forward to participating in and helping create a more equitable workplace across Seattle." - ECC
- "Seattle's pragmatic approach to labor rights enforcement - bringing together community-based organizations, outreach, and education - has put millions of dollars back in Seattle workers' pockets. Thanks to the Seattle Office of Labor Standards' strong partnership with worker- and community-led organizations, our economy is fairer, businesses are stronger, and working families are better able to thrive." - Danielle Alvarado, Executive Director of Fair Work Center.
