TODAY: Mayor Harrell Announces Every Child Ready Initiative and Bold Proposal to Renew Seattle’s Education Levy
Seattle – Today, Mayor Bruce Harrell will join Councilmember Maritza Rivera, the Department of Education and Early Learning (DEEL), and a diverse coalition of education leaders, advocates, students, and families to announce his new Every Child Ready initiative and proposal to renew the Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise (FEPP) levy, which is set to expire at the end of this year.
The mayor’s proposal will include transformative new investments to expand access to affordable childcare and early learning opportunities through the nationally recognized Seattle Preschool Program; expand student safety and mental health resources in K-12 schools; and provide graduates with a pathway to college and careers with free tuition at Seattle Colleges and job training opportunities.
Press interested in attending must RSVP to jonah.spangenthal-lee@seattle.gov. Those unable to attend in person can watch a recording online via the Seattle Channel here after the event.
