March 26 Executive Constantine to deliver final State of the County address

King County Executive Dow Constantine will deliver his final State of the County address. He will highlight progress made over the past 16 years and reflect on challenges and opportunities ahead, as well as thank county employees for their dedicated service.

March 28 Learning Session: Disability and Aging Community Resources hosted by Hopelink

Hopelink's Community of Practice educational series is expanding in collaboration with trusted community partners to bring us together and share valuable resources that meet the needs of our most vulnerable community members. These sessions will provide a space for learning, dialogue, and action, allowing us to explore how different organizations are supporting our community’s immediate needs and how we can collectively strengthen our support systems in an evolving landscape.

Upcoming Learning Session: Disability and Aging Community Resources

Organizations: Sound Generations & Disability Empowerment Center (TBC)

Why This Matters: As we age or navigate life with disabilities, access to support, dignity, and independence should be a given—not a privilege. This session will highlight the services, policies, and community-driven solutions that empower individuals to thrive.


April 3 In-Person Training for Service Providers on Immigration

The Seattle Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs and Northwest Immigrant Rights Project are hosting a second service providers' training on immigration. This in-person session will take place on Thursday, April 3, from 12:00-2:00 PM at the Seattle Public Library-Central Library (1000 Fourth Ave., Seattle, WA 98104).  

This training is for service providers working with immigrant and refugee communities in Seattle. Similar to the first training session, we will cover the following topics: 

  1. Immigration Policy Changes: An update on the immigration policies implemented by the Trump administration and their continued impact on immigrant communities.
  2. Local Laws &Policies: An overview of the laws and policies in place in Washington State and the City of Seattle that protect immigrant and refugee residents and workers.
  3. Best practices: An overview of best practices for service providers to effectively serve and protect their immigrant and refugee clients.

A Q&A session will follow the presentation to address any questions or concerns. Please note that the training will be conducted in English.

Seattle’s Green New Deal Oversight Board is now accepting applications! The application will be open through April 6.

The Oversight Board is looking for passionate individuals to help provide proposals for policies and programs to the Mayor, City Council, and City departments that advance Seattle’s Green New Deal.  

Seattle’s Green New Deal seeks to eliminate City climate pollution and give direct support to overburdened communities that are hit first and worst by climate change and extreme weather like floods, heat waves, and air pollution. As part of the initiative, the City makes investments in public transportation, energy efficiency, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, and more while creating job opportunities for residents and a healthier Seattle for all.

Qualified applicants will have an understanding of how environmental outcomes connect with institutionalized racism, health, education access, racial equity, access to jobs, and other inequities. Candidates should have experience with community organizing and a desire to build relationships and collaborate with government partners.

SDOT Bridge Residency for Animators - apply by April 15

This year, we’re inviting animation artists to immerse themselves in the heart of Seattle’s infrastructure, exploring the city’s iconic bridges through the lens of their creative practice. Two selected artists will receive a $10,000 stipend and dedicated studio space within the Fremont or University Bridge towers. These historic structures, with their breathtaking views and rich histories, provide an unparalleled setting for artistic exploration and innovation.

Learn about clean energy tax credits at monthly office hours

Join the Washington State Department of Commerce Clean Energy Tax Credit Assistance Program (CETCAP) team for monthly office hours to learn more about clean energy tax credits and elective pay tax credits. CETCAP offers free technical assistance to community-based organizations, local governments, ports, housing authorities, tribes, and other public and nonprofit entities.

During this session, tax attorneys will be available to answer any technical questions you may have. Upcoming sessions will be held:

Now recruiting! King County Metro Equity Cabinet - apply by April 20

King County Metro needs new members to join our Mobility Equity Cabinet to help us shape our transit policies, plans and programs. We value your thoughts and opinions!

Members of the cabinet will:

  • Gain a deep understanding of Metro as an organization, its guiding policies, services, operations and decision making.
  • Build and strengthen connections in their communities, learn and share about their community’s history, assets, needs and priorities around transit.
  • Shape Metro initiatives and policy updates by collaborating and advising us on key initiatives and policy updates.

We are seeking applicants who live, work or regularly visit King County, or use King County Metro services.

Members are compensated $50 per hour for time attending meetings, reviewing materials, community research and engagement, or other, related activities outside of meetings.

Get Engaged Boards & Commissions Application Open Through April 25

The City of Seattle and the Y Social Impact Center are excited to announce that the Get Engaged program is now accepting applications!

The Get Engaged program places individuals ages 18-29 on the City of Seattle’s boards and commissions. Get Engaged board members serve a one-year term as fully vested and voting members starting in September. Acting in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and City Council, board members help shape policy decisions, make recommendations, and provide citizen participation in city government. Since 2001, the Get Engaged program has been dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders and advocating for the influence of young voices in city affairs.

Applications for the 2025-2026 term will be accepted until Friday, April 25th at 11:59pm.

Sage Leaders is now accepting applications for the Community Leadership Institute! - apply by April 30

Sage Leaders’ Community Leadership Institute (CLI) is a fellowship program that resources, educates, and places emerging leaders from communities of color and low-income communities to serve on strategic municipal boards and commissions.

Launched in 2015, the six-month fellowship trains emerging leaders in issues such as housing, land use, transit, climate, and economic development. Graduates learn the nuts and bolts of local government processes, such as municipal budgeting, parliamentary procedures, and lawmaking, as well as advocacy, storytelling, and communication skills. After graduation, the fellows apply for and are placed on strategic boards, commissions, and task forces at the city and county level.
