Seattle parking fines have increased

Effective Jan. 1, fines for most Seattle parking violations increased. The new fines range from $43 to $78. Click here for the full list of parking violations with new fine amounts.

The new fine amounts bring parking fines in alignment with current parking rates and account for inflation. This is the first time since 2011 that the City of Seattle has increased the amount of parking fines.

Individuals receiving a parking violation have several options to address tickets. Click here to learn more.

So far, we’ve introduced readers to people in the following roles: a bailiff, court cashier, jury coordinatorprobation counselormagistrate and the court’s chief clerk. This series is expected to conclude in February.

SMC's Community Resource Center

Coming to court or being involved in the judicial system can cause anxiety or nervousness. The high stakes in a court case or participating as a witness or juror can be stressful.

SMC has a positive resource available to help people—whether it’s individuals who have been through the court process, people in transition, or really anybody in the community in need of services. This resource—called the Community Resource Center (CRC)—is on the second floor of the courthouse. Click here to read more.

DEI at SMC

Continuing in our mission to be a fair and equitable tribunal

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI, sometimes known as DEIB, to include belonging) has frequently been in the news. Across the country, DEI seems to be under attack. Countless universities, businesses and organizations have eliminated these programs. Yet at Seattle Municipal Court, DEI isn’t going away anytime soon. Click here to learn more and find out why it's vital and valued at SMC.
