SDOT in partnership with King County Metro are upgrading the Route 70 to a RapidRide level of Service.
Construction Update - Bus Stop Temporary Closures
Some temporary bus stop closures and relocations will be needed during the construction of the RapidRide J Line project. We have temporarily closed the stops on Eastlake Ave E where it intersects with Harvard Ave E, E Hamlin St, E Lynn St, and E Garfield St. The northbound stop on Eastlake Ave E near Harvard Ave E will be relocated onto Harvard Ave E throughout construction. These stops are closed during construction. Metro aims to reopen these stops for service as soon as possible as construction conditions allow.
The temporary closures of bus stops will avoid confusion, reduce construction times, help Route 70 avoid delays, and increase public safety while allowing our contractor to access the spaces to construct the permanent RapidRide J Line stops. Once those amenities are in place, the permanent RapidRide stops will reopen.
Bus stops at northbound and southbound Eastlake Ave E and Harvard Ave E, E Hamlin St, E Lynn St, and E Garfield St will be temporarily closed.
Stormwater Drainage Work on Eastlake Ave E - Harvard Ave E
The stormwater drainage improvements along Eastlake Ave E are progressing between Harvard Ave E and E Allison St. Beginning as soon as October 31, this section of roadwork includes necessary updates to underground stormwater systems to manage and improve water flow in the area. To accommodate these essential upgrades, temporary traffic patterns will be enforced to ensure safety and efficiency. Crews are working to minimize disruptions, and additional updates will be provided to keep the community informed. We thank residents and commuters for their patience and cooperation during this phase of the project as we strive to enhance the overall infrastructure.
