Seattle Fire Department remembers fallen heroes

The Seattle Fire Department honored all 55 Seattle firefighters who have died in the line of duty since 1891 at the annual Seattle Fallen Firefighter Memorial last Friday in Occidental Park. On Wednesday, Mayor Bruce Harrell, Seattle Fire Chief Harold Scoggins, and Seattle Fire Fighters Union Local 27 President Kenny Stuart also announced the open application window for the City's firefighter/EMT positions.

Here in what is now the Seattle area, Indigenous tribes originally spoke a form of Coast Salish language, Southern Lushootseed. University of Washington Assistant Teaching Professor Tami Hohn explained why keeping the language alive is so important, and teaches us a few useful words and phrases, watch the video here ahead of the city's Indigenous Peoples' Day event, Monday, Oct. 14.
