Construction Updates About the South Spokane Street Viaduct

Updated Work Schedule for September 20-23, 2024

The Spokane St Swing Bridge (also known as the West Seattle Low Bridge) was closed to motor vehicles as Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) crews repaired damage from a car crash that occurred on September 14

The Low Bridge is now working (as of Friday, September 20, 2024). As such, our schedule between Friday and Monday will be as follows:


Westbound Closures

10 PM Friday, September 20, 2024 until 5 AM Monday, Sept 23, 2024

South Spokane Street Viaduct All Westbound Lanes Closed

Dates and Times of Lane Reductions

  • All westbound lanes will be closed
    • All Westbound lanes on the S Spokane St Viaduct from I-5 Interchange to SR 99 will be closed
    • The S Columbian Way Off Ramp to westbound Spokane Viaduct will be closed. However, the ramp to Lower Spokane St will remain open
    • The northbound I-5 Off Ramp to westbound lanes of the Spokane Viaduct will be closed. However, the ramp to Lower Spokane St will remain open
    • The southbound I-5 Off Ramp to the westbound lanes of the Spokane Viaduct will be closed. However, the ramp to S Columbian Way will remain open
    • 1st Ave S Off-Ramp will be closed
    • 1st Ave S On-Ramp will be closed
    • The Port of Seattle Terminals 5-18/Harbor Island/11th Ave SW Off-Ramp will be closed

To reach West Seattle: Use South Spokane Street (the surface street along the Viaduct) and cross via the Spokane Street Swing Bridge (i.e., the West Seattle Low Bridge).

How This Affects You

For Residents:

  • Expect Delays: There may be delays due to lane closures. Please plan your travel accordingly.
  • Noise: There could be some noise from construction activities, especially at night.

For Business Owners:

  • Delivery Adjustments: If you have deliveries scheduled during these times, please inform your delivery service about the lane closures.
  • Customer Access: Inform your customers about the construction and advise them to use alternative routes if possible.
