Construction Updates About the South Spokane Street Viaduct
Updated Work Schedule for September 19-23, 2024
We are continuing our work this week on the South Spokane Street Viaduct Deck Rehabilitation. However, the Spokane St Swing Bridge (also known as the West Seattle Low Bridge) is currently closed to motor vehicles as Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) crews continue to repair damage from a car crash on the evening of September 14. This ongoing closure could affect our schedule moving into the weekend.
If the Low Bridge is still not working by this weekend, our schedule between Friday and Saturday may need to change. Please pay close attention to the schedule layout below, which is organized by the direction of lanes impacted, as opposed to dates:
Eastbound Closures/Restrictions
Eastbound Right Lane Restrictions
7 PM Thursday, Sept 19, 2024 until 6 AM Friday, Sept 20, 2024
- The right eastbound lanes will be closed
Eastbound Left Lane Restrictions
4:30 PM Saturday, September 21, 2024 until 6 PM:
- The left eastbound lanes will be closed
Eastbound Full Lane Closure
6 PM Saturday, September 21, 2024 until 5 AM Monday, Sept 23, 2024

All eastbound lanes will be closed
Westbound Closures
*These scheduled closures are dependent upon the Spokane Street Swing Bridge/Low Bridge being functional again.
10 PM Friday, September 20, 2024 until 4 PM Saturday, Sept 21, 2024
Dates and Times of Lane Reductions
- All westbound lanes will be closed
- All Westbound lanes on the S Spokane St Viaduct from I-5 Interchange to SR 99 will be closed
- The S Columbian Way Off Ramp to westbound Spokane Viaduct will be closed. However, the ramp to Lower Spokane St will remain open
- The northbound I-5 Off Ramp to westbound lanes of the Spokane Viaduct will be closed. However, the ramp to Lower Spokane St will remain open
- The southbound I-5 Off Ramp to the westbound lanes of the Spokane Viaduct will be closed. However, the ramp to S Columbian Way will remain open
- 1st Ave S Off-Ramp will be closed
- 1st Ave S On-Ramp will be closed
- The Port of Seattle Terminals 5-18/Harbor Island/11th Ave SW Off-Ramp will be closed
How This Affects You
For Residents:

Expect Delays: There may be delays due to lane closures. Please plan your travel accordingly.

Noise: There could be some noise from construction activities, especially at night.
For Business Owners:

Delivery Adjustments: If you have deliveries scheduled during these times, please inform your delivery service about the lane closures.
