Updated Work Schedule for September 3-9, 2024
After a rainy week and holiday weekend, construction work on the South Spokane Street Viaduct will begin again. Here are the details you need to know:
Construction Schedule and Lane Closures
Dates and Times of Lane Closures
-
September 3 to September 6, 2024:
- Two left-hand lanes going eastbound will be closed from 7 PM until 6 AM the next morning.
-
September 6 to September 9, 2024:
- All eastbound lanes and one westbound lane will be closed from 10 PM until 5 AM each night.
What You Can Do
-
Plan Ahead: Use alternative routes and allow extra travel time.
-
Weeknight Closures (Sept 3-6, 2024): If traveling eastbound from West Seattle on the West Seattle Bridge, you must either exit for SR 99 north towards downtown. From there, to reach I-5, head toward 1st Ave S to get to the Edgar Martinez Dr S freeway on-ramp.
-
Weekend Closures (Sept 6-9, 2024): If traveling northbound on I-5, take Exit 163 and enter Lower Spokane St. (i.e., the surface street). From there, use the West Seattle Low Bridge (a.k.a. Spokane St Swing Bridge) to reach West Seattle.
How This Affects You
For Residents:
-
Expect Delays: There may be delays due to lane closures. Please plan your travel accordingly.
-
Noise: There could be some noise from construction activities, especially at night.
For Business Owners:
-
Delivery Adjustments: If you have deliveries scheduled during these times, please inform your delivery service about the lane closures.
-
Customer Access: Inform your customers about the construction and advise them to use alternative routes if possible.
