Pike and Melrose Community Crosswalk

Dear Neighbors,

We’re getting ready to install the colorful community crosswalks and officially complete the Melrose Promenade project! The community crosswalk murals will be painted across Melrose Ave at both E Pike St and E Pine St. They will have the same colorful design as the original crosswalk mural and will now be 10 feet wide (pictured left). We’ll remove the old crosswalks and install the new ones from September 10-12. Read below for details on the upcoming work, including travel impacts.

Community Crosswalk Installation

On September 10-12, we will install the colorful community crosswalks on Melrose Ave at E Pine St and E Pike St. We will work from 7 AM – 5 PM.

Work Schedule

  • September 10: Remove existing crosswalks and prep surface for new crosswalk at E Pike St and E Pine St. This includes hydro blasting which will be noisy.
  • September 11: No work while pavement surface dries
  • September 12: Install new community crosswalks at E Pike St and E Pine St

Travel Impacts

The below travel impacts are in place from 7 AM – 5 PM on Sept. 10 & 12. Normal traffic operations will resume at the end of each workday.

  • Melrose Ave and E Pike St is closed to vehicles. Vehicles can access the area from Melrose Ave and E Pine St.
  • Melrose Ave and E Pine St is restricted to incoming southbound traffic only. Exiting vehicles must use Minor Ave and E Pine St.
