If you’ve got children ages 1–18, you’re invited to a Free Summer Meals celebration on Friday 7/12/2024 (11 AM–2 PM) at Jefferson Park (3801 Beacon Ave S, Seattle). Enjoy free food and activities and learn about the program.
The Seattle Human Services Department’s popular Summer Food Service Program—also known as the Summer Meals Program—opened on July 1 at 60 parks, community centers, and other sites in Seattle neighborhoods, and runs through late August. The program offers children and teens aged 1–18 free, healthy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks during the summer months. Each participant can receive two meals or one meal and one snack per day, to be eaten onsite.
“This year, the program expects to provide more than 100,000 meals and almost as many snacks,” said Dr. Shukri Olow, director of the Human Services Department’s Youth and Family Empowerment Division. “But we know there are more children, youth, and families that can benefit from this and other savings programs we offer. So come have some fun!”
The July 12 event features free food and giveaways, bounce houses, a petting zoo, face painting, and information and resource tables.
The Summer Food Service Program is sponsored by the Seattle Human Services Department and is supported by Seattle Parks and Recreation, Seattle Public Schools, United Way, Seattle Children's and Delta Dental.
