Hello Neighbors,  

We wanted to recap a few of the project milestones from the 15th Ave W/NW and Ballard Bridge Paving and Safety Project as well as preview what’s to come in 2024.  

Project highlights from 2023 

2023 was a significant year for the project. In early 2023, we sent out a survey to those who work and live around the project corridor. Thank you to the 900+ people who provided feedback through our online survey! Comments from the public helped inform our design plans and will later inform our construction plans and detours. We also completed final designs that include new safety enhancements for people who walk, bike, and roll. To learn more about the new safety enhancements, please visit our project website. 

What’s happening in 2024? 

We advertised the construction contract to contractors on January 3, 2024. We plan to select a contractor and prepare for construction by spring 2024. You can expect more construction details in the future once a contractor is on board. We will continue to coordinate with nearby construction projects to make sure that other construction impacts are minimized as much as possible.  

How to stay engaged 

Over the next couple of months, we will share information about upcoming construction and alternate travel routes. We will send regular emails, talk with people who live, work, or play along or near the 15th Ave W/NW corridor, and send out periodic mailings and conduct in-person outreach throughout construction.
