We recently built a new sidewalk along Highland Park Way SW between SW Portland St and SW Holden St. The sidewalk includes ADA accessible ramps at each corner and curb bulbs to increase safety for people walking and rolling.

Later this month, we will finish the new sidewalk and ramps on the east side of Highland Park Way SW, plus a new ramp on the SW corner of Highland Park Way SW and SW Portland Street. From there we will begin landscaping.

Over the next couple of weeks, we'll also replace some concrete panels on SW Holden St and lay asphalt to tie everything together. Learn about the full project on the Highland Park Way SW and SW Holden St Safety Project webpage.
If you live near the project area, you may hear especially noisy work this week and next. We will be breaking up the concrete panels on SW Holden St. This involves a chipping hammer, which is very loud and generates vibrations. The noisiest work will likely happen on Thursday, September 21 and Monday, September 25, but that could shift depending on weather and crew availability. You will hear additional equipment as we rebuild the road and pour new concrete, but it will not be as loud as the demolition.
There will be lane closures during this time as well, but there will always be at least one lane open for people driving and crew will be on site to guide traffic.
