Construction for the project is 65% complete!
We know many people have been eagerly waiting for an update on our construction progress. We’ve made a lot of progress throughout the spring and summer and are excited to share that we are about 65% complete! During this time, we’ve completed some major project elements including:
-
Installation of a new water and sewer line under Madison St east of Broadway. The new water and sewer line replaces a line that was 120 years old!
-
Construction of a new stormwater storage tank under 10th Ave between Madison St and Union St. In total, we’ve built 3 new stormwater storage tanks with this project. The tank under 10th Ave is the largest and can hold nearly 57,000 gallons of water!
-
Milling and paving on Madison St and Spring St in downtown and parts of Capitol Hill. With most of the paving in downtown now complete, people can expect to start seeing final street markings as soon as the end of this month. This will include new red bus lane markings on Spring St and Madison St and new green bike lane markings on Spring St. We will continue applying final street markings to other project areas later next year. See the final design section of our webpage for maps that show what the final project will look like.
We will continue sharing more information on our progress in our monthly email and will update our overall completion percentage approximately every three months. For more information on the project, visit our website.
