Restaurant2Garden feature image - a man uses a rake outdoors in a garden.

OED sponsored the inaugural NextCycle Washington Pitch Showcase Awards, a pitch competition and accelerator program for circular economy and zero waste projects. By nurturing projects that incorporate waste prevention, repair, reuse, recycling, and/or composting models, the NextCycle Washington program helps develop equitable local economies while reducing waste, keeping materials in use longer, and regenerating natural systems. We sponsored the $5,000 Community Impact Award, which our very own Green Economy Advisor, Vin Valentino, awarded to Restaurant2Garden for their work in creating a decentralized and hyper-local community composting operation using local restaurant food waste in the Chinatown-International District in Seattle.
