23rd Ave Vision Zero Project Update

Your Levy to Move Seattle dollars at work!

Pole removal and sidewalk work at E John St

A traffic signal pole with orange cones and yellow tape around it.

This weekend, April 15 – 16, crews will begin removing old utility poles at the intersection of 23rd Ave E and E John St. Once the poles are removed, we’ll backfill the areas, and pour concrete to complete the sidewalks. We expect to complete the sidewalks next week, pending any weather-related delays.

During this work, people can expect:

  • Single traffic lane closures and partial sidewalk closures and detours
  • Temporary street parking impacts and restrictions
  • Noise and vibrations
  • Working hours from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

That's a wrap! And a final thank you

Later this spring, we'll complete final inspections and make any necessary fixes of project elements. As the remaining work comes to an end, we'd like to extend a final thank you to the community for your continued patience and support. Completion of this project is a major milestone for the Vision Zero program and our work to end traffic deaths by 2030. You can read our blog about the completion of the 23rd Ave Vision Zero Project.
