The Seattle Department of Transportation and King County Metro are partnering together to bring RapidRide to Madison St
The Madison St project area is busy, dense, and still growing. We're making street improvements to Madison and Spring streets that will allow King County Metro to operate frequent and reliable RapidRide G bus service from Downtown to Madison Valley.
Construction for the project is now 50% complete!
We're working to make progress on construction as safely and efficiently as possible. Typical work hours are between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. We have obtained a noise variance to complete construction activities within allowable noise limits for work outside of these hours.

What's all that noise?!
If you live near the intersection of Madison St and 12th Ave you may have recently been awoken at night by the sounds of construction and thought to yourself What is going on?
Well, here's what all the ruckus is about: We are working with Seattle Public Utilities to replace a century-old watermain as part of this project. We're doing much of that work at night in order to minimize the impacts of water shut-offs to residents and businesses, as well as reduce the impact to the traveling public. We understand that construction at night is difficult, and we complete the noisiest activities before 10 PM, as is required by the contractor's nighttime construction variance.
Still, we do our very best to minimize the number of times that we have to work after-hours. Trust us when we say our crews would rather be sleeping as well! We appreciate your patience with us as we try to complete this critical work as quickly as possible!
And once you do fall back asleep, you can dream of fast, reliable RapidRide G bus service coming your way soon!

Support Local Businesses!
Construction shouldn't impact your plans for the big game! In fact, we know of the perfect place to watch the Super Bowl while enjoying good food and great company.
The Bottleneck Lounge (2328 E Madison St) and Two Doors Down (2332 E Madison St) are both open during this weekend's construction, and will be serving up delicious food and ice-cold drinks while showing the Chiefs taking on the Eagles. Stop by either of these locations before or during the game to enjoy a number of gameday specials while cheering your team on to victory!

Although construction will be happening nearby this weekend, these businesses will still be accessible. Parking will be available on the north side of Madison St and limited parking will also be found on John St or 24th Ave (see above). Visitors will be able to use the sidewalks to access each location. Of course, if you'd prefer to watch the game from the comfort of your own home, feel free to order a few gameday classics to go, and grab them at convenient pickup locations also on Madison St. |
