Construction updates: December 22, 2022

Complete sidewalk at E Olive Way

Happy holiday season!

We want to extend our thanks to the entire community for your support as we work to complete the Melrose Promenade project. This week, we completed sidewalk repairs on the east side of Melrose Ave between E Olive Pl and E Olive Way. We also began repairs to sections of the street and sidewalk at the SE corner of E Olive Way.

We know construction is impactful and we anticipate completing major construction by mid-January. We’ll still have some work to complete, such as installing lane markings, bike lanes, and the colorful community crosswalks at E Pine St and E Pike St. This work requires warm, dry weather for installation and will be completed in Spring 2023.

Upcoming work

The week of Dec. 26, we’ll complete repairs on the SE corner of E Olive Way, begin sidewalk and street repairs on the SW corner, and install new traffic signal poles. Installation of the new traffic signal pole requires a one-day closure of Melrose Ave between E Olive Way and E Olive Pl from approximately 7 AM - 4 PM. During this closure, Bellevue Ave will be the posted detour route.

The week of Jan. 2, we’ll continue working at E Olive Way to make street and sidewalk repairs at the NW corner. This work includes noisy pavement breaking and temporary sidewalk and lane closures. Please be alert for street closures and posted detour signs.

Work is weather dependent, and some activities may be rescheduled.

During construction, you can expect:

  • Temporary sidewalk and vehicle lane closures near active work sites
  • Parking restrictions
  • Weekday working hours from 7 AM – 5 PM
  • Noise, dust, and vibrations during work hours
  • Construction equipment and materials staged in the project area

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times, although some short-term disruptions may occur. Please use caution when traveling through the area and follow all posted signage.

Thank you!

Thank you again for your support during construction, and please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or comments. I hope you have a great holiday season and a Happy New Year!

Sincerely,
