Alki Point Healthy Street: Open House this Wednesday, November 9

Department of Transportation logo large

Join us this Wednesday at an open house for the Alki Point Healthy Street

In May 2020, we implemented a Healthy Street on Beach Drive SW and Alki Avenue SW from the north end of 63rd Ave SW to the south end of 63rd Ave SW.

Since completing an outreach process and receiving comments from more than 2,000 people, the Alki Point Healthy Street design is moving forward as a Neighborhood Greenway and permanent Healthy Street. Visit the project webpage for more background information and outreach summaries.

While people can still drive on the street, using the street as a cut-through is discouraged so that it stays calmer and safer for all users – especially people biking, walking, or using a foot scooter.

Share your feedback on the Alki Point Healthy Street permanent design at an upcoming open house

Traffic calming examples

One of the design items we'd like community feedback on is traffic calming elements. Above are examples of a raised crosswalk (left) and a traffic circle (right).

Other ways to give input

After the in-person open house on Wednesday, November 9, we'll send another email with the early design and post the design on our webpage for your feedback. Please share your comments by December 9, 2022.

Questions and comments can be sent to AlkiKeepMovingStreet@seattle.gov or shared in a voicemail to (206) 727-3565. If you have a request for a public engagement event or would like us to attend an existing community meeting, please email us at AlkiKeepMovingStreet@seattle.gov
