23rd Ave E Vision Zero Project Updates

Complete crossing at E Lynn St

Construction updates: October 21, 2022

Over the last several weeks, we completed bus stop enhancements and poured the new sidewalk at E Roanoke St. Thanks for your patience during this work.

This weekend, we plan to complete reconfiguration of the 23rd Ave E and E John St intersection and turn on the new signals. The new intersection will have protected left turns for northbound, southbound, and eastbound traffic. People making a left turn from northbound or southbound 23rd Ave E and from eastbound E John St will have a separated turn lane and dedicated turn signal.

This work includes removing the existing mast arms (horizontal poles holding the traffic signals), completing electrical work on the NW corner of the intersection, and installing new lane and crossing markings. There will be temporary lane closures for 2-3 hours at each corner for mast arm removal, and intermittent travel lane and crossing impacts during pavement marking. Flaggers will be on-site to direct traffic. Please use caution when traveling through the area during active work.

Below is a diagram of the new intersection operations. Please be alert to the new lane markings and signal operations when traveling through the area.

On the weekend of Oct. 29, we’ll be at E Lynn St to move the bus trolley wires to the new poles at the intersection and remove the old poles. During this work there will be short-term lane closures and a flagger will be on-site to direct traffic.

Seattle Transportation Plan | More ways to share your thoughts with us in Phase 2

We’ve launched the second phase of outreach on the Seattle Transportation Plan. We’ve heard your vision for the future of transportation. Now we need your help to turn those ideas into actions!

  • The Seattle Transportation Plan (STP) is our commitment to building a transportation system that provides everyone with access to safe, efficient, and affordable options to reach places and opportunities. We need your help to create this plan.
  • Together, we are reimagining how we move around the city and enjoy our streets and public spaces
  • We listened to what you shared with us during our first phase of engagement and started planning. Tell us if we are on the right track and share your input on the Online Engagement Hub.
  • We have added more ways for you to help create the STP with us:
    • Review the STP vision, goals, and objectives
    • Share what future of transportation you want to see
    • Tell us what actions you like and how they can become part of our transportation system

Thank you for your interest in the 23rd Ave Vision Zero project and for your patience during construction.
