23rd Ave E Vision Zero Project Updates
Construction updates: September 9, 2022 It's been a quiet period for the 23rd Ave E Vision Zero project while we waited for materials to arrive, but we're excited to be back at it this week! This Saturday, September 10, we’ll complete the new accessible curb ramp and sidewalk repairs on the NE corner of E John St. During work, the sidewalk will be closed and there will be a detour for people walking, biking, or rolling. We anticipate reopening the sidewalk and the new accessible curb ramp on Monday.
Next week, we’ll start work on the NW corner of E John St to install conduits for the new signals. This work includes trenching in the street and will require closure of the parking lane on the north side of E John St. We’ll place “no parking” signs in advance of work. The sidewalk will also be closed, but access to adjacent homes will be maintained. A detour for people walking, biking, and rolling will be provided.
On Saturday, September 17, we’ll be at the E John St intersection to do preparatory work for the new signal poles. During this work, there will be short-term crossing and sidewalk closures while the poles are installed. Detours for people walking, biking, and rolling will be provided. We’ll also be at E Lynn St to install the controller cabinet for the new signal for people walking, biking, or rolling. The sidewalk will remain open and access to businesses maintained. Please use caution when traveling through the area. We expect to complete both signals by the end of the month.
What to expect during construction Please use caution when traveling through active construction areas and follow all posted detours. Construction schedules are always subject to change based on weather, materials availability, and crew availability.
