Mayor Bruce Harrell Announces New Leadership at Office of Economic Development, Office of Sustainability and Environment, and Department of Neighborhoods  

Markham McIntyre has been appointed by Mayor Harrell to serve as our new Department Director to lead OED with a focus on small business support, workforce development and equity initiatives — specifically focused on growing contracting opportunities, improving access to capital and removing barriers to success. Shop to the Beat matches small retail businesses with local musicians to host free in-store performances to help increase foot traffic and sales for retailers and provide competitive pay for musicians.

Indigenous Advisory Council logo

Apply for the Indigenous Advisory Council

Applications are now open for all nine positions on the newly formed Indigenous Advisory Council. The council will advise the Mayor, City Council and City departments on policies, budgets, programs, services, and projects directly affecting Indigenous populations including American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian peoples.

The deadline is Monday, February 28 at 5 p.m.

Grant opportunity for Seattle-based individual artists and curators

Applications for Office of Arts & Culture’s 2023 CityArtist grant are now open! This cycle, CityArtist supports dancers, choreographers, musicians, composers or theater-makers (including playwrights) in the research, development and presentation of their work. Awarded artists will need to offer a public presentation within Seattle city limits.

Application deadline: April 27, 2022, 5 p.m.

The1Million Exhibit

Now on view at ARTS at King Street Station

"The 1 Million - Multiple Species Eradication" explores bio-/multi-species extinctions and the species affected by humanity's mass resource extraction. Artist Carol Rashawnna Williams created this large scale monoprint installation with seven contributing artists in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. On view February 3 through April 7, 2022. Three additional installations are also on view in the gallery, more info here.
