The Great ShakeOut is Here!

ShakeOut. Don't freak out. October 21, 2021. ShakeOut.org

Join the world's largest earthquake drill tomorrow, October 21 at 10:21 am.

International ShakeOut Day is always the third Thursday of October (this year: October 21). While COVID-19 has brought many uncertainties and challenges, one thing's for sure: ShakeOut is still happening this year!

As always, you can hold your #ShakeOut drill when and where you want. You can choose another date or several dates, and include people in multiple locations (home, work, or school), perhaps through video conferencing. It's a good idea to practice earthquake safety in different situations each year!

How to Participate

Drop Cover, and Hold On! Why is it important to do a Drop, Cover, and Hold On drill? To react quickly you must practice often. You may only have seconds to protect yourself in an earthquake, before strong shaking knocks you down--or drops something on you. Practicing helps you be ready to respond.

Many people register their participation in the drill to be counted alongside millions around the world. The ShakeOut website offers participation guides for individuals, businesses, schools, and more

Drop, Cover, and Hold On!

When the ground shakes, you should drop, cover, and hold on under a sturdy table or desk. But what if you're not near a table? Learn how to protect yourself during an earthquake when you're in bed, when you're driving, if you have limited mobility, and more with ShakeOut's Earthquake Safety Video Series.

Cyber Safe Emergency Preparedness

Does your emergency plan include keeping backups of important documents in cloud storage? Many people store copies of vital records, identification, property deeds, and more digitally in case they are lost during a disaster. If cloud storage is part of your emergency preparedness, make sure your documents are stored securely.

How to Stay Safe Online

Managing Your Cyber Risk

Cybersecurity involves preventing, detecting and responding to cyberattacks that can have wide-ranging effects on individuals, organizations, the community and at the national level.

Cyberattacks are malicious attempts to access or damage a computer or network system. Cyberattacks can lead to loss of money, theft of personal, financial and medical information that can damage your reputation and safety.

You can avoid cyber risks by setting up the proper controls to protect yourself, your family, and your property before a cyberattack occurs. Click the button below to get started.
