Welcome aboard the Seattle Channel time machine! Today’s stop: opening day of the Seattle World’s Fair, which celebrated its 59th anniversary earlier this week. How is downtown Seattle navigating the ongoing impact of the pandemic, recent protests, lack of affordable housing, and other social and economic factors? On May 5, Civic Cocktail will host Bob Donegan, President of Ivar’s, and Brian Surratt, VP of Real Estate Development and Community Relations for Alexandria Real Estate and former director of the City of Seattle’s Office of Economic Development, to discuss the history of the Emerald City and their vision as downtown shifts from surviving to thriving.
All Washington residents over the age of 16 are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. If you live or work in King County, are eligible, and have not yet been vaccinated, head to the city's COVID-19 vaccination website to sign up for the City of Seattle's list and get notified when vaccination appointments become available at any of the city's fixed sites (Rainier Beach, West Seattle, Lumen Field, and North Seattle College). Also, check out the state's vaccine locator for more locations.
New this week, those 60 and older can now walk in, without an appointment, to the Community Vaccination Hubs in Rainier Beach and West Seattle (Monday–Saturday 9 a.m.–4 p.m.).
Call the Customer Service Bureau at (206) 684-2489, Monday–Saturday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. for in-language or any other assistance or questions. For the latest information about the vaccine, eligibility, and locations, visit the city's COVID-19 vaccination website.
If you have symptoms of COVID-19, schedule a free test at one of the city's sites.
