Seattle Music Commission: Nominations Open through November 12 

The Seattle Music Commission is a group of industry and community volunteer stakeholders that advises the Office of Film + Music on policy and advocacy measures that support the growth of the local music industry in Seattle. This group is also dedicated to working with OFM to advance racial equity within the industry through advocacy and policy priorities. We invite you to nominate yourself or others to be considered for membership on the Seattle Music Commission. Nominations will be accepted through November 12.

Submit Your Music to  PlayBack! 

Seattle Public Library is seeking submissions for their free music collection, PlayBack. Playback contains 250 albums by Seattle area artists including; SassyBlack, Tomo Nakayama, BEARAXE, The Black Tones, Lori Goldston, Whitney Monge, NAVVI and many more! 

The public can download or stream these albums for free, and selected artists receive $200 and lots of library love.  

Deadline for submissions is November 30. Check out PlayBack and submit a song starting today!

WA Equity Relief Fund for Nonprofit

The Washington State Department of Commerce is partnering with Philanthropy Northwest to administer $2 million of relief funding from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act through an open application to community-based nonprofits and tribal organizations most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The WA Equity Relief Fund for Nonprofits will provide flexible, general operating support to nonprofits that are led by and serve BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) communities most impacted by the global pandemic. Eligible applicants must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit or a community-based organization fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Application Closes: Friday, November 6 at 11:59 pm PST. Learn more and apply here.

Creative Worker Social Safety Net Survey Results Are In 

During these challenging economic times, programs like unemployment insurance, workers comp, healthcare and food assistance programs provide a much needed lifeline to the statewide creative community. Over the summer months, Washington Filmworks/Whipsmart surveyed the scene to learn more about how creative workers were accessing these benefits (or not).

Vera Project

Filmmakers and Designers:  Submit your proposal for the Vera Project 20th Anniversary Design and Video RFP

Seattle's favorite all-ages music venue and nonprofit arts space will be celebrating their 20th anniversary all 2021 long with a series of livestreams and in-person special events.  

If you are an experienced filmmaker from and/or currently located in the Seattle area, have some form of relationship or history with The Vera Project, and want to work with the community to create something meaningful, Vera would love to hear from you. The scope of work will be finalized throughout the next several weeks in collaboration with selected filmmaker(s).
