2021 Workplace Poster Now Available!

2021 Workplace Poster

The 2021 Office of Labor Standards (OLS) Workplace Poster with the minimum wage adjustments, effective January 1, 2021, is now available for download on the OLS website by clicking here.

The increase is required by the Minimum Wage Ordinance. The minimum wage applies to all employees working in Seattle regardless of the workers’ immigration status.

  • The 2021 minimum wage for large employers (501 or more employees) is $16.69/hour.
  • The 2021 minimum wage for small employers (500 or fewer employees) who do not pay at least $1.69/hour toward the employee’s medical benefits and/or where the employee does not earn at least $1.69/hour in tips is $16.69/hour.
  • The 2021 minimum wage for small employers who do pay at least $1.69/hour toward the employee’s medical benefits and/or where the employee does earn at least $1.69/hour in tips is $15.00/hour.

2021 Workplace Poster Translations

The 2021 Workplace Poster must be displayed in a noticeable area at the workplace, in English and the languages spoken by employees. In addition to English, OLS provides the 2021 Workplace Poster in 19 languages that include Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, French, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Malay, Oromo, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, Tigrigna and Vietnamese. 2021 Workplace Poster Special Delivery!

Employers: Check your mailbox for a 2021 Workplace Poster! In an ongoing effort to provide outreach, education, and technical support to Seattle businesses, OLS is mailing the revised workplace poster 2021 to every business with a Seattle business license. The poster is expected to arrive the first week of November.


Domestic Workers Ordinance Model Notice of Rights and Pay

The 2021 Domestic Workers Ordinance (DWO) Model Notice of Rights and Pay Information is now available on the OLS Domestic Workers Ordinance webpage here. Those who employ or pay for the services of a domestic worker covered by the DWO are encouraged to distribute this model notice to their worker, in the language the worker is most comfortable using. This notice is not intended as legal advice and does not create a contract with the City of Seattle. In addition to English, the 2021 DWO Model Notice of Rights is also available in Spanish and Chinese on both the DWO webpage here and on the OLS Languages webpage, which can be viewed by clicking here.

2021 Hotel Protections Resource Updates

Seattle’s hotel employee protection laws require covered employers to display either a Notice of Rights for Hotel Employees or a Notice of Rights for Employees of Ancillary Hotel Employees poster that outlines the rights afforded under those ordinances. These posters are updated annually. The 2021 updates to these posters can be found on the Hotel Employee Protections webpage here. Both Notice of Rights documents are available in English and in 11 different languages that include Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, French, Korean, Oromo, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog, Tigrigna and Vietnamese.
