New COVID-19 Testing Site at Chief Sealth High School in West Seattle

COVID-19 Test

Last week, Mayor Jenny Durkan announced the expansion of the City of Seattle COVID-19 testing sites to include Chief Sealth High School in West Seattle. Registration opens Wednesday, August 26 and testing will begin Friday, August 28.  

COVID-19 tests are free and available to lessen the spread of the virus. Getting tested can help you protect your family, friends, and community should you contract the virus.

Register online for a test. Language interpretation services are available at most location at no costs and are open to anyone regardless of immigration or insurance status.

Building Our Bridge technology education project is hosting a free,  informational meeting on unemployment insurance Friday, August 28, 4:30pm - 5:30pm.

The Office of Sustainability & Environment has opened the Environmental Justice (EJ) Fund! The EJ Fund is a grant opportunity for community-led project that improve environmental conditions, respond to impacts of climate change and get us closer to reaching environmental justice.

Othello Street Cafe

Othello Cafe Streets: Saturdays, 11AM - 3PM 

HomeSight, MLKBA, and On Board Othello are partnering with Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) to launch Cafe Streets in Othello. Cafe tables are available at a first come first serve basis on the south end turnaround of 42nd Ave S (at the northeast corner of MLK & Othello, near the Othello Lightrail Station).

The Patio: Tuesdays - Sundays, 10AM - 9PM

The Columbia City Business Association partnered with SDOT to launch The Patio. The Patio is a new outdoor neighborhood seating area on S. Ferdinand St. and in the adjoining brick-lined alley behind Geraldine's Counter.

Arson Tips

Arson Fires Targeting South Seattle Businesses and Construction Sites 

Last week, a construction site in Beacon Hill and Rainier Farmer Market on Rainier Ave. S / 23rd Ave S were intentionally set on fire.

In late June, Seattle Fire reported an uptick of arson fires in south Seattle and the Central. Businesses, constructions sites, and residents are advised to take precautions to help prevent arson fires. Click here for tips
