Film Task Force: Updates and Priorities

Film Task Force Logo

The Film Task Force is comprised of film crew, businesses, actors, educators, associations, festivals, and labor organization. Combined efforts are to collaboratively advise workplan priorities for the Office of Film + Music, and to strengthen film industry and community interaction with the Office of Film + Music and City of Seattle.

“The Film Task Force was assembled to work with the City of Seattle to advocate and develop policies to market and promote economic growth of Seattle’s film industry,” says Film Task Force co-chair Shellea Allen. “As our industry grows, we must make sure our communities are reflected in our policies; we must make sure the folks that work in the Seattle film industry, can live in Seattle. We are doing our work together through the lens of racial, social, and economic justice. I am excited to be part of the future of film in our city and be the co-chair of the Seattle Film Task Force.”

While film productions largely remain on hold, we want to share updates the current state of things in the City, and projects we and our partners are currently working on.

As always, please contact the Office of Film + Music any time if you have questions or input. We are staffed and ready to assist and coordinate film permissions when production resumes. We encourage location managers and productions who are gearing up to film this summer (and beyond) to reach out in advance to the Film Office to discuss logistics so we can plan the best we can. As Countywide Directive Takes Effect, Mayor Durkan Launches "Seattle Protects" Online Marketplace for Face Cloth Coverings

We Can Do It Sign With Face Masks

Seattle Protects is a new online marketplace that connects local manufacturers with businesses, nonprofits, community groups, and individuals in need of cloth face coverings. This new economic development and public health effort by the City is encouraging local organizations to purchase from Seattle-region midsize manufacturers and businesses that have pivoted to creating face coverings and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Effective May 18, King County residents must wear cloth face coverings in indoor public settings, on King County Metro buses, and in outdoor settings where physical distancing could be difficult, such as farmers markets.

OED is supporting the Mayor’s efforts by coordinating the delivery of cloth face covering to small restaurants and grocery businesses in many neighborhoods throughout Seattle. If you are interested in supporting this effort, contact Jessica Sidhu, Community Safety Coordinator, jessica.sidhu@seattle.gov, 206-727-8780.
