Secure Scheduling COVID-19 Q & A Resource

In 2016, the City passed the Secure Scheduling Ordinance to establish predictable work schedules that promote greater economic security for overtime-eligible employees who work in Seattle at retail or food service employers with more than 500 employees. The Office of Labor standards (OLS) administers this ordinance, including providing compliance assistance and education.

OLS created a new Secure Scheduling Ordinance Question and Answer resource that addresses questions about COVID-19 and its impact on premium pay for certain schedule changes. Please click here for full details.

We will continue to update this resource if and when recommendations by public officials change. You can find our current Q&A resource and more information about this law by clicking here and visiting our Secure Scheduling webpage. Please also take a look at our recorded webinar by clicking here.

Comprehensive Paid Sick and Safe Time Q&A Updated

On March 18, 2020, amendments to expand the types of absences for which an employee can use their Paid Sick and Safe Time (PSST) went into effect.

To ensure employees and employers have the most recent information, we issued an updated PSST COVID Q&A and Fact Sheet last week. Today we released an updated comprehensive Q&A which provides detailed questions and answers about this law. These resources can be found by clicking here to visit our Paid Sick and Safe Time webpage.
