Hello Friends and Partners -

Last week, the City of Seattle and other regional partners held an event to encourage all Seattleites to take steps to protect their health and become "smoke ready" as we are likely to experience more smoke events this summer. These terrible smoke events are a sobering reminder of how devastating climate change will be for us - and especially the most vulnerable in our community. While we keep ourselves safe from climate impacts we are also committed to #ActonClimate and to do our part joining cities around the globe in reducing pollution.

The power of concerned Americans coming together to make change continues to grow and is shining a light on topics--such as racial and gender equity--that were issues long before the presidential election. Momentum for climate action grew significantly last year and shows no sign of dropping off, despite the federal government's attempts to derail it. I'm thrilled to be serving under a Mayor who believes in science and is committed to Seattle's leadership role on climate.
