It’s April! The days are getting longer and warmer, and we’re seeing more productions come out of the studio and onto Seattle streets, sidewalks, and parks. The viaduct is nearly half gone, and Metro’s buses have vacated the downtown tunnels. Meet the Music Commission: Jennifer Czeisler - Seattle Music Commissioner Jennifer Czeisler currently runs Rogue Octopus, a sync licensing company focused on Northwest artists and labels, and previously served as Vice President of Licensing at Sup Pop Records for 16 years. A Seattle native and graduate from the University of Washington School of Law, Jen’s abilities have showcased themselves in music placements for Sub Pop bands The Shins, The Postal Service, Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, as well as local indie artists on Rogue Octopus such as Tangerine, Smokey Brights, Hot Bodies In Motion, J. Pinder, Sweet Water and more. We spoke with Jen about how she got into her career, her perspective on the local industry and her advice for artists who are just starting out. Register for City of Music Career Day on April 26 - The City of Music Career Day, a Seattle Music Commission initiative, produced in partnership with One Reel, the Office of Film + Music, the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP), and The Vera Project, provides young people ages 13-24 with direct access to music industry professionals through networking, experiential learning, engaging workshops, and performances. Attendees will be guided through an action-packed day of engaging conversations and roundtable discussions that focus on the wide range of career possibilities within the music industry from those who know it best. How the Mariners make the funniest ads every year - For over 20 years now, the Seattle Mariners have provided a little extra entertainment for their fans in the form of its seasonal ad campaign that stars their most popular players. But these aren’t just sizzle reels designed to pump fans up for the upcoming season. Working with local advertising agency Copacino + Fujikado and Blue Goose Productions, the Mariners typically produce four to five ads that infuse baseball with some kind of non-baseball element—a speedster needing a pit stop or a left-handed pitcher taking up arts and crafts. Seattle's All is Well takes home Best of Show at ADDYs - The American Advertising Awards were hosted on March 29 right here in Seattle, and local production company All is Well took home Best of Show and a handful of other awards. Over half of Seattle film permits are issued for commercial productions - it's no wonder we have some of the best production companies in the business! Congratulations All is Well!
