Hello Friends and Partners -

Last week, Mayor Durkan transmitted an Electric Vehicle readiness Ordinance to Council. This ordinance is one of the 12 priority actions included in the Mayor’s Climate Action Strategy and is a critical component to building Seattle’s carbon neutral future and a key component to improving mobility in our city. As the Mayor said during her State of the City Address, “21st century mobility does more than connect people with jobs and opportunity. It also helps us fight climate change and advance environmental justice". I'm thankful to be part of such great work here at the City.

The power of concerned Americans coming together to make change continues to grow and is shining a light on topics--such as racial and gender equity--that were issues long before the presidential election. Momentum for climate action grew significantly last year and shows no sign of dropping off, despite the federal government's attempts to derail it. I'm thrilled to be serving under a Mayor who believes in science and is committed to Seattle's leadership role on climate.
