May 17-23 is National Public Works Week, and we're so grateful to our team here at the City of Sammamish! Public Works manages, maintains, & operates public facilities and public rights-of-way. These road work projects are scheduled in Sammamish for the week of May 22-29.
SCHEDULES MAY CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER AND/OR EQUIPMENT AVAILABILITY
Please Note: Usual limited work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. are suspended while local schools are out of session. Summer hours of 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. will apply until further notice.
4th Street: Streetscaping and Paving
Project completion is in sight! On SE 4th St., the contractor is working on the finishing touches, mainly the landscaping and final layers of pavement. Another layer of hot-mix asphalt pavement is scheduled to be placed Tuesday, May 26th (weather permitting). Large vehicles should continue to avoid the roadway. Flaggers continue to manage traffic in a shared lane during hours of work. Typical work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During hours of work, two-way traffic will be sharing a lane controlled by flaggers. During non-work hours, traffic will be travelling in normal lanes.
Next week on 228th Ave. SE at SE 4th St., crews will be relocating a traffic signal pole. A southbound lane will be closed during work hours. On Wednesday, May 27th there will be a 10 to 15 minute stoppage of traffic to place the new traffic signal lights over the travel lanes. If all things go as planned this short duration stoppage will happen between the hours of 9:00am and 10:00am. Removal of the existing traffic signal is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday June 3rd; another traffic stoppage will be necessary for that effort.
Right-of-Way Clearing (King County)
Clearing in the right-of-way has begun on 244th Ave. NE between NE 18th and NE 20th (across the street from the Sammamish M.O.C.) This work will last for about two weeks and may create minor traffic delays from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Please note: This work is in unincorporated King County rather than within the City of Sammamish.
Overnight Lane Closure on SR 202 (King County)
From 8:00 PM on June 1, 2020 – 6:00 AM on June 3, 2020, there will be a single lane closure with flaggers on SR 202 for construction work. Traffic will still be allowed through the sites under flagger control during the lane closure.
Location: SR 202 Patterson Creek, Milepost 13.22; SR 202 West Tributary, Milepost 19.69; SR 202 East Tributary, Milepost 19.76
Restoration Work
From Tuesday, May 26, through Friday, May 29, restoration of sidewalks and asphalt will take place in the Klahanie Neighborhood on 244th and Klahanie Blvd SE. This is the final of three sites undergoing restoration, and this project will be complete at the end of the week.
Clearing for Elementary School on IPLR
On Tuesday, May 26th, a logging contractor will begin clearing the site at 4353 Issaquah Pine Lake Road to make way for a new elementary school. This is not expected to have any traffic impacts.
Curb Ramp Retrofit Project
Our contractor continues to excavate and retrofit ramps on 228th Ave. SE between SE 21st St. and SE 10th St. The contractor will continue working on one ramp per intersection at a time, starting with the NW corner of SE 10th St/228th Ave SE. This project will help update the ADA accessibility on City sidewalks in this area and is expected to take approximately two months to complete.
Issaquah-Fall City Road (IFCR)
Issaquah-Fall City Road remains closed for construction. Local access will be maintained during the closure. The closure between 247th Place SE and Klahanie Dr. SE is expected to last through December 2020.
- The temporary roundabout at SE Issaquah-Beaver Lake Rd./256th Ave. SE/SE 32nd St/E Beaver Lake Dr. SE is operational. Only final touch-ups are remaining, which are being scheduled once all the parts arrive.
- Construction of the bridge has begun. So far, 6 of the 12 drilled underground shafts have been completed. Six more remain, then they will start building the above-ground work. The area is closed to the public.
- Paving between 242nd and 247th Ave. SE is complete. Traffic has been shifted to the south side of the roadway. Work has started along the north half of the roadway in this area.
- The contractor will continue to work in the intersection of 247th Ave. SE near the middle school.
Please note that during peak delays, using the project detour route, Issaquah Beaver Lake Road to Issaquah Pine Lake Road, may result in shorter drive times.
Updated: Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be no work on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
Bridge-drilling crews between Klahanie Dr. SE and 247th have started at 7:00 a.m., following the required health check-up. Road crews between 242nd and 247th have started at 7:30 a.m., following the required health check-up.
