Parks Closures and Updates

Many Washington State Parks reopened on May 5th, and King County Parks reopened with some restrictions today. Sammamish City Parks have lower capacity, so while they're still open for general use, we're continuing some modifications in order to maintain social distancing and keep the community safe and healthy. SE 8th

Final call to help us refine an alternative concept design and find the right balance of features to better serve our community! Take our online survey for the SE 8th St - 218th Ave. Corridor Improvements Study by Monday, May 11. The City is studying traffic, safety, & environmental needs to plan for future improvements on the corridor extending from 212th Ave. SE to NE Inglewood Hill Road.

Cone Zone

These road work projects are scheduled in Sammamish for the week of May 8-15.

SCHEDULES MAY CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER AND/OR EQUIPMENT AVAILABILITY

Please Note: Usual limited work hours of 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. are suspended while local schools are out of session. Summer hours of 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. will apply until further notice.

4th Street: Sidewalks and Median Islands

Significant changes are underway. The contractor is working on the center medians and roundabout islands. Please use caution at the roundabout intersections: It is going to be tight for a while. The approach lanes to the intersections will have plenty of space for vehicles once constructed, but not all of that space is currently available. Large vehicles should avoid the roadway for now. During hours of work, two-way traffic will be sharing a lane controlled by flaggers. During non-work hours, traffic will be travelling in normal lanes.

Other project work includes:

  • The new right-turn lane for eastbound traffic on 228th Ave., which will require a temporary southbound lane closure
  • Irrigation installation and sidewalk paver block installation between 224th Ave. SE and 225th Place SE
  • Work on 218th Ave SE and 225th Place SE next to SKY Apartments.

Flaggers will be managing traffic through the work zone. Typical work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Storm Pipe Installation on Issaquah-Pine Lake Road

A contractor has begun storm pipe installation on Issaquah Pine Lake Road and 35th Street. This work is expected to wrap up during the coming week and to include minor traffic delays.

Restoration Work: Asphalt Patching & Sidewalk Repair

Tomorrow, restoration will take place on in the following locations. This is for asphalt patching only, and may include minor traffic delays.

  • SE 48th St. and 227th Ave. SE -- Just east of the Cambria neighborhood on the north side of the road
  • SE Klahanie Blvd. and 244th Pl. SE -- Livingston neighborhood on the north side of the road
  • 216th Pl. NE and NE 20th Way -- Hampton Woods development on the east side of the road

Next Wednesday through Friday, all sidewalk repair will be done on 244th and Klahanie Blvd. There will be further restoration work throughout the city in the weeks to come, and we'll post those updates here.

Curb Ramp Retrofit Project

Next week, a contractor will begin retrofitting ramps on 228th Ave. SE between SE 21st St. and SE 10th St., starting with limited work on surveying and saw-cutting. Work is expected to start on the west side of 228th Ave. SE. The contractor will be working on one ramp per intersection at a time, starting with the NW corner of SE 10th St/228th Ave SE. This project will help with ADA accessibility on City sidewalks in this area and is expected to take approximately two months to complete.

Issaquah-Fall City Road (IFCR)

Issaquah-Fall City Road remains closed for construction. Local access will be maintained during the closure. The closure between 247th Place SE and Klahanie Dr. SE is expected to last through December 2020.

  • The temporary roundabout at SE Issaquah-Beaver Lake Rd./256th Ave. SE/SE 32nd St/E Beaver Lake Dr. SE is operational. Only final touch-ups are remaining, which are being scheduled once all the parts arrive.
  • Construction of the bridge has begun. So far, 6 of the 12 drilled underground shafts have been completed. Six more remain, then they will start building the above-ground work. The area is closed to the public.
  • Paving between 242nd and 247th Ave. SE is complete. Traffic has been shifted to the south side of the roadway. Work has started along the north half of the roadway in this area.
  • The contractor will continue to work in the intersection of 247th Ave. SE near the middle school.

Please note that during peak delays, using the project detour route, Issaquah Beaver Lake Road to Issaquah Pine Lake Road, may result in shorter drive times.

Updated: Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bridge-drilling crews between Klahanie Dr. SE and 247th have started at 7:00 a.m., following the required health check-up. Road crews between 242nd and 247th have started at 7:30 a.m., following the required health check-up.
