The Issaquah City Council is scheduled to deliberate on the remainder of its 2019 Comprehensive Plan docket at the January 21, 2020 regular council meeting. What remains to be decided is the designation and zoning for the Issaquah School District’s proposed new elementary and high school to be located at Providence Heights. If the Council’s decision allows the District to move forward, a process begins that includes environmental reviews (SEPAs) where the School District will provide the review; and, site plan reviews and permit issuances from the City of Issaquah. In addition, due to the property location along 228th Avenue NE, Issaquah School District would also be required to apply for Right-of-Way permits from the City of Sammamish for future traffic and roadway modifications.

If you wish to provide comments on the City of Issaquah’s 2019 Comprehensive Plan, including zoning for the elementary and high school, with the City of Issaquah, you may do so here. We will communicate with residents regarding future plans once the Issaquah City Council has made their decision. For more information, please email Katie Cote at the City of Issaquah or call 425-836-3100.

Cone Zone

These are the road work projects scheduled in Sammamish for the week of January 17-24.

SCHEDULES MAY CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER AND/OR EQUIPMENT AVAILABILITY

4th Street: Curbs and Gutters

The base layer of pavement has been placed over the whole road. The contractor is installing the median and intersection islands, streetscaping, and some remaining minor underground utility work. Flaggers continue to manage traffic through the work zone.

228th Catch Basin Repair

Weather permitting, work will continue on 228th between Discovery Elementary and Skyline High School to repair the catch basins along the roadway. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in the location of work. Work is occurring along the northbound direction.

Verizon 5G Drilling on 228th

A contractor has begun installing conduit by directional drilling along the northbound 228th Ave SE sidewalk between SE 24th Street and Issaquah-Pine Lake Road.

  • The northbound curb lane may be affected by lane closures for equipment to access work areas, which may also close the sidewalks in some places.
  • Sidewalk detours will be provided for pedestrians to navigate around the closures.
  • Signalized intersections will have off-duty uniformed patrol officers onsite.
  • This work is anticipated to last approximately three weeks.

Issaquah-Fall City Road

  • Please be prepared for additional delays as utility relocations are currently impacting traffic (PSE Gas, PSE Electric, Comcast, Century Link).
  • Using the project detour route, Issaquah Beaver Lake Rd-Issaquah Pine Lake Road, may result in shorter drive times during peak delays.
  • Project work is primarily in front of Pacific Cascade Middle School (PCMS)
  • Storm drainage installation has begun in the center of the roadway
  • By January 23, the south side of the road will be lowered by 5 feet to remove the existing "hump"
  • Utilities will be installing a PSE gas line and a joint utility trench once the road is lowered
  • Work continues on the new pedestrian path and retaining wall leading to the PCMS front entrance
  • The temporary roundabout at SE Issaquah Beaver Lake Rd./256th Ave./East Beaver Lake Dr. is pending, dependent on dry weather for striping

Weekday work hours are 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. along Issaquah-Fall City Road.

Issaquah-Pine Lake Road

The City’s consultant will be working on the shoulder of Issaquah-Pine Lake Road in the vicinity of SE Klahanie Blvd, performing geotechnical borings. Traffic lanes will remain open in both directions while the shoulder is closed for the drilling. The work is scheduled for January 23-24 between 7am and 5 pm. This work is part of the design effort for the Issaquah-Pine Lake Road Widening Project.

2019 Intersection Improvement Project (Flashing Yellow Arrow Installation)
