Deputy Mayor Malchow recently won reelection for her Council seat and was administered the oath of office by the City Clerk at Tuesday night's meeting, along with newly elected Councilmembers Kent Treen (Position 4) and Ken Gamblin (Position 6). They have each been elected to serve four-year terms as Councilmembers. Join us in welcoming our new Councilmembers and in congratulating our Mayor and Deputy Mayor on their new roles!

snow and ice routes

With snow likely Sunday night, it's a good time to familiarize yourself with the City's snow and ice priority map. Arterials, major thoroughfares, and making way for emergency vehicles are the main focus for our crews.

Cone Zone

These are the road work projects scheduled in Sammamish for the week of January 10-17.

SCHEDULES MAY CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER AND/OR EQUIPMENT AVAILABILITY

4th Street: Curbs and Gutters

The base layer of pavement has been placed over the whole road. The contractor is installing the median and intersection islands, streetscaping, and some remaining minor underground utility work. Flaggers continue to manage traffic through the work zone.

228th Catch Basin Repair

Weather permitting, work will continue on 228th between Discovery Elementary and Skyline High School to repair the catch basins along the roadway. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in the location of work. Work is occurring along the northbound direction.

Crews will be working on Saturday, January 11.

Verizon 5G Drilling on 228th

A contractor has begun installing conduit by directional drilling along the northbound 228th Ave SE sidewalk between SE 24th Street and Issaquah-Pine Lake Road.

  • The northbound curb lane may be affected by lane closures for equipment to access work areas, which may also close the sidewalks in some places.
  • Sidewalk detours will be provided for pedestrians to navigate around the closures.
  • Signalized intersections will have off-duty uniformed patrol officers onsite.
  • This work is anticipated to last approximately three weeks.

Issaquah-Fall City Road

  • Please be prepared for additional delays as utility relocations are currently impacting traffic (PSE Gas, PSE Electric, Comcast, Century Link).
  • Using the project detour route, Issaquah Beaver Lake Rd-Issaquah Pine Lake Road, may result in shorter drive times during peak delays.
  • Project work is primarily in front of Pacific Cascade Middle School (PCMS)
  • Storm drainage installation has begun in the center of the roadway
  • By January 20, the south side of the road will be lowered by 5 feet to remove the existing "hump"
  • Work continues on the new pedestrian path and retaining wall leading to the PCMS front entrance

Weekday work hours are 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. along Issaquah-Fall City Road.
