Southeast 8th St. and 218th Ave. Southeast Corridor Study

Got a vision to improve the corridor?

The City of Sammamish will be developing designs to improve safety for people walking, cycling, and driving on the roadway corridor that runs from SE 8th St to NE Inglewood Hill Rd., along 218th Ave. SE. We need to hear about your experience using the corridor! Your input will help us address existing issues and design a better corridor for the future.

Cone Zone

These are the road work projects scheduled in Sammamish for the week of Nov. 22 - 29.

SCHEDULES MAY CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER AND/OR EQUIPMENT AVAILABILITY

4th Street: Curbs and Gutters

Flaggers continue to manage traffic through the construction site. The majority of the underground utility work is complete. The contractor is preparing the remaining portion of the eastbound roadway for pavement and will be starting to grade the north half of the roadway to install curb and gutter. The initial layer of pavement is scheduled to be completed in early December.

UPDATE: Issaquah Fall City Road

The general contractor (GC) has begun work along the corridor. Clearing activities and underground utility work are the emphasis. In addition, third party utilities, including PSE Gas, Comcast, and Verizon are relocating facilities in the public right-of-way. Also note:

  • A temporary asphalt walking path has been finished on the north side of the road for students and pedestrians.
  • The Pacific Cascade Middle School (PCMS) sign will be removed soon. A replacement location and design will be coordinated with PCMS.
  • Rough grading has started for the stairs and walkway planned up to the middle school.
  • Some preliminary work may be done on the temporary roundabout at 256th Ave. SE / E Beaver Lake Drive SE and SE Issaquah-Beaver Lake Rd. The roundabout is planned to be completed before the roadway closure begins for bridge construction in Spring 2020.

The general contractor (GC) will also be installing the temporary roundabout at the intersection of SE 32nd/ Issaquah Beaver Lake Rd. and 256th Ave SE/East Beaver Lake Drive. The work will include striping and the use of signage and traffic cones followed by installing the concrete curb. Expect slight delays as the flaggers control the traffic during work hours. This work has been moved until the beginning of December due to a delay in signage. The work is weather-dependent; any wet weather will add to the delay.

Expect additional traffic control for the next three (3) weeks along Issaquah Fall City Road between 247th and 242nd.  The Contractor will need to encroach towards the travel lanes to install a deep stormwater utility pipe.

Work hours are 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. along Issaquah Fall City Road.

Verizon 5G

Crews are working at the intersection of 228th and Inglewood Hill Road to replace the concrete ADA ramps. Work is expected to occur on Monday or Tuesday, dependent on the weather.
