Redmond, WA The City of Redmond is recruiting one new volunteer member of the Landmark Commission. One position is currently open for residents who live within the city limits (98052 zip code) and have an interest in historic architecture and places. Applications are currently being accepted and interested residents are encouraged to apply by May 31, 2021.

Since 2005, the Landmark Commission has promoted, protected, and incentivized improvements to landmark properties in Redmond. The Commission reviews Certificates of Appropriateness regarding modifications to designated landmarked properties, makes recommendations to the Redmond City Council regarding applications to the City’s Heritage Grant program, and advises the Mayor and City Council on issues pertaining to historic and archaeological resources. The Commission also works through an Interlocal Agreement with the King County Regional Landmarks Commission for designating properties as historic landmarks.

Commissioners serve four-year terms and attend periodic meetings on the first and third Thursday’s of the month. Meetings are held as needed, for business purposes. Commissioners will occasionally participate on special committees, attend public meetings and events, cultivate community involvement around historic preservation projects and programs, and meet with City Council and other commissions.

To learn more about the Commission or to apply, go to www.redmond.gov/Commissions. There is no deadline, but interested individuals are encouraged to apply by 5 p.m. on May 31, 2021. Positions remain open until filled.
