Community Input Requested on Redmond Pool & Redmond Senior Center

Redmond, WA – The City of Redmond invites community members to review the preferred options for the Phase II improvements at the Redmond Pool and envision the future of the Redmond Senior Center.
“Collaboration and community input are vital as we make decisions for our growing City,” said Redmond Mayor Angela Birney. “Community participation in the design and planning process of the Redmond Pool and the Redmond Senior Center will ensure these spaces continue to serve our residents well for many years to come.”
Please join us Wednesday, January 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 15670 NE 85th Street, Redmond, WA 98052. This meeting will begin with a formal presentation at 6:45 p.m., followed by conversations and activities. In addition to this meeting, an online questionnaire is available until January 20, at www.letsconnectredmond.com/RSC.
The first purpose of this outreach is to review the latest set of conceptual drawings for the Redmond Pool Phase II improvements that the community provided input on in October 2019. These concepts include improvements to public spaces such as pool decking, lobby and locker room upgrades, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements.
The City is also requesting that community members envision the future of the Redmond Senior Center. The Redmond Senior Center closed in September 2019 and needs to be renovated before it can reopen or be demolished and rebuilt. The purpose of the public outreach process is to gather feedback from the community that is shared with the City Council to help them decide how to invest in the Redmond Senior Center. During the outreach process, we will revisit the outcomes of the 2017 Community Priorities for the Future of Redmond’s Community Centers Report, where the community acknowledged the need for more community center space, fitness, and community event spaces. During the engagement process in January, the community will be asked to evaluate options such as renovating the Senior Center or expanding it to include some new amenities.
