Redmond, WA – On Wednesday, October 2, Redmond students, their families, teachers, and the community are invited to join schools nationwide to celebrate International Walk to School Day.

This October, thousands of schools across the country, including nine Redmond schools will be participating in the 23rd Annual Walk to School Day. Walk to School Day is facilitated as a part of the City of Redmond’s SchoolPool program, in which local students and schools are rewarded for reducing the number of drive alone trips to school. Walk to School events help to celebrate the importance of pedestrian safety, reducing traffic congestion, and caring for the environment at a young age.

Although Walk to School Day is focused more on walking, the program welcomes and encourages all forms of active transportation to school including walking, biking, riding the school bus, or carpooling with other families. Thanks to the parental, neighborhood and community wide support, Walk to School Day continues to be an educational celebration for both children and adults.
