NE 51st Street Improvements Project Begins Soon

Redmond, WA – NE 51st Street in Redmond will be under construction beginning this summer. Work is anticipated to begin in the middle to late July and be completed by June 2020.

The project will:

  • Widen NE 51st Street from the east side of the eastbound SR 520 ramp intersection to east of 156th Ave NE
  • Create a bike lane in each direction
  • Add a center turning lane
  • Pavement overlay at the intersection of NE 51st Street and 156th Ave NE
  • Create curb “bulb-outs” at the westbound SR 520 ramp intersection for traffic control and pedestrian safety
  • Add a new signaled crosswalk on 156th Ave NE at the 4800 block

The work schedule is anticipated to be from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Throughout the year, the project is estimated to require 20-30 days of night work east of SR 520 and will require an estimated two weekends of day/night work at the westbound SR 520 ramp intersection.
