Redmond, WA – Join your friends and neighbors in recognizing the importance of trees and forest ecosystems with the City of Redmond Parks and Recreation Department. The Arbor Day celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, April 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Grass Lawn Park located at 7031 148th Avenue NE.

This celebration will feature the planting of one large ceremonial tree and participants will plant 100 smaller trees in the forested area on the edge of the park. “Planting and caring for trees is vital to maintaining our quality of life and contributes to ensuring forested spaces for future generations,” said Mayor John Marchione.

The public is invited to participate and no experience is necessary. Gloves, tools and other materials will be provided. It is important to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. All ages are welcome, although all volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult or bring a signed waiver available at http://www.redmond.gov/Residents/VolunteerOpportunities/Environment.
