Redmond, WA –The City of Redmond presents Redmond Lights, its annual Winter Festival, on Saturday, December 1 from 4:00–8:00 p.m. and for the first time, Sunday, December 2 from 5:00–8:00 p.m. The event brings people together to experience light displays, live performances, and activities that celebrate the community’s diverse winter traditions, cultures and faiths.
On Saturday, December 1, attendees are invited to start the day early by shopping for unique gifts at the Redmond Lights Holiday Market inside the Redmond Senior Center, from 12:00–6:00 p.m. Beginning at 4:00 p.m., the Redmond City Hall Campus will come alive with interactive booths, light features and live music on the main stage. Mayor Marchione, along with special guests, will then light the campus oak tree at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Redmond Lights fireworks show beginning at 6:00 p.m.
“Redmond Lights is our unique winter celebration that brings the many cultures and traditions of Redmond together,” said Mayor John Marchione. “I invite everyone to come enjoy the music, art, lights, and activities that connect us all during this festive time of year”. After the tree lighting ceremony, guests will be invited to depart on the enchanting luminary walk to Redmond Town Center any time after 5:00 p.m. On the walk along the Redmond Central Connector trail, visitors will take in the sights and sounds of the season and enjoy eye-catching new light installations by five local artists, two of them featured at the new Downtown Park as part of the luminary walk route.
The luminary walk ends, but the entertainment continues at Redmond Town Center until 8:00 p.m., with an outdoor skating rink, kids’ activities, free holiday carousel rides, holiday music and more. Parking is available at Redmond Town Center or the City Hall Parking garage, and a free shuttle runs on Saturday only between both locations from 3:30–8:30 p.m. The shuttle stops are located in front of the Redmond Senior Center on Redmond Municipal Campus, and Gene Juarez at Redmond Town Center.
On Sunday, December 2, the second night of Redmond Lights opens at 5:00 p.m. on City Hall campus with parking available in the City Hall garage. Guests are invited to begin their peaceful journey on the luminary walk behind the City Hall building along the Sammamish River Trail and take a quiet stroll through the Redmond Central Connector, enjoying luminaries, light and art installations along the way. The evening culminates at Redmond’s new Downtown Park with interactive activities for the whole family.
