Redmond, WA – The annual So Bazaar Night Market returns to Downtown Redmond this August! This evening festival comes to life in the form of pop-up urban night markets on the last three Thursdays in August — August 16, 23 and 30. With roots in the exciting street life throughout Asia, the So Bazaar Night Market transforms Downtown Redmond with performances, art and cuisine along the Redmond Central Connector (RCC) trail located between 161st Ave NE and Leary Way.

“So Bazaar is a signature Redmond experience that combines the arts with food trucks and a concert series into one unique community event,” said Mayor John Marchione. “There is no other event quite like So Bazaar in the region.”

The theme this year is all-things Art Nouveau –a total art style and international movement across disciplines that was most popular between 1890 and 1910.

August 16 – Ultraviolet: Stop by the beer garden, where glamorous performers pose to be drawn en plein air. As the sun goes down, enjoy a silent film accompanied by live music and watch the majesty of Stravinsky’s Firebird.

August 23 – Rose: Join us for a PINKnic on the Redmond Central Connector lawn, where sunny soundscapes from PNW indie electronica artists will have you smiling all evening long. Dance the night away at the silent disco below the lights of the art installation Signals.

August 30 – Blanc: Dress in white, and come ready to enjoy a Cabaret under the stars and a Jazz Age Dance-Off featuring Eastside social dance groups. “Paris Jazz” will be playing all night long - with a stream of local guest performances.

New to So Bazaar this year, the event will feature artist Jen Szabo’s art installation along the Redmond Central Connector throughout the entire So Bazaar event series. Exploring the ideas of seasonality, rebirth, even invasiveness, she gravitated toward the dandelion as the subject of the work and will create a network of dandelion chandeliers. Szabo says, “I want to continue to have the audience look skyward and utilize fiber art materials in this temporary installation. An inverted dandelion “dome” will suspend from the ceiling of the Signals sculpture, while the ‘seed pod’ lanterns (illuminated after dark) are dispersed by the dandelions overhead between the sculpture, Redmond Central Connector and Bear Creek Parkway.”
