Redmond, WA – On Wednesday,
May 9, Redmond students, their families, teachers and the community are invited
to join schools from around the country to celebrate National Bike to School
Day.
Throughout
May, eight Redmond schools including Audubon, Ben Rush, Horace Mann, Norman
Rockwell and Redmond Elementary schools, Redmond and Rose Hill Middle Schools,
and Redmond High will promote biking to school through the Redmond SchoolPool
Program. The goal of the Redmond SchoolPool is to reduce traffic while giving
students a healthy, fun, and safe way to get to school.
Bike to
School events work to create safer routes for biking while also emphasizing the
importance of increasing physical activity among children, outdoor
opportunities, a sense of responsibility and independence, pedestrian safety,
concern for the environment and reducing traffic congestion.
